Though she is not yet thirty years old, American actress Amanda Seyfried already has been featured in 16 feature films and has appeared in many television shows as well.
As beautiful as she is talented, in 2010 Seyfried was featured in People’s World’s Most Beautiful list as well as Forbes’ list of 17 Stars to Watch. She has also been nominated several times at the MTV Movie Awards and the Teen Choice Awards for her various roles.
Her career, while somewhat short, has included the critically acclaimed HBO television series "Big Love" as well as the movie musical "Mamma Mia!", proving she may be young but has a wide range of talent. Her newest film, the sci-fi thriller "In Time", will be released October 28 and has her starring opposite Justin Timberlake.
Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on December 3, 1985, it is perhaps not surprising that Seyfried’s career actually started in modeling at 11 years old. After appearing in several print campaigns for various clothing companies like Limited Too, she broke into the acting business with small roles in the soap operas "All My Children" and "As the World Turns".
Shortly before her 18th birthday, Seyfried decided to quit modeling altogether and focus on acting.
In 2003 she received her first taste of fame with her film debut in "Mean Girls". While she originally auditioned for the role of Regina George, Seyfried was eventually cast as one of Regina’s friends, the ditsy Karen Smith.
Shortly after appearing in "Mean Girls, Seyfried went on to have a recurring role in the teen drama "Veronica Mars. Though her character only ever appeared in flashbacks, she played an intricate piece of the series overarching storyline.
For the next few years Seyfried was a guest star on a variety of popular television series, including "House M.D" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. But it was in 2006 that she became a household name with the debut of HBO’s show "Big Love", where she started as the oldest daughter of a Utah polygamist.
In 2008 she starred as Meryl Streep’s daughter in the movie-musical "Mamma Mia!", where she got to show off her vocal abilities. "Mamma Mia!" was her first leading role and Seyfried was featured several times on the soundtrack.
Not an actress who likes to be typecast, Seyfried’s roles span all genres of Hollywood. She starred in the comedy horror movie "Jennifer’s Body" and was the title character in the erotic thriller "Chloe".
In 2010 she was in "Dear John, based on the Nicholas Sparks’ book, and even recorded a song that appeared on the film’s soundtrack, and her romantic comedy skills were proven in the 2010 film "Letters to Juliet.
