Synopsis: | Sixties icons Stamp and Fonda show that age has not withered their acting chops in Soderbergh's revenge thriller. Wilson (Stamp) is a Cockney career criminal who gets out of a Brit prison and immediately flies to L.A. to investigate the death of his daughter Jenny. She was involved with self-important record producer Valentine (Fonda), who has an obvious fondness for young women. Wilson may be out-of-touch with California culture but he's definitely in control of any situation. Soderbergh's flashback sequences make use of footage from Ken Loach's 1967 film "Poor Cow," which featured Stamp as a young thief named Wilson. |
