Synopsis: | Professes to be thematically related to "A Midsummer Night's Dream," but don't let this get your hopes up. Thankfully, there's little chance of that happening, as the practice of basing teen comedies on Shakespeare plays reached the saturation point not too long ago and audiences realized that a film claiming to have been inspired by the Bard rarely met such high expectations. So it goes with this below-average kiddie comedy, which follows the sad breakup of Berke Landers (Foster), the nice but slightly dull boy, and Alison (Sagemiller), his popular former girlfriend, who soon takes up with Striker (West), the hot new boy in school. Berke's obsession with his old flame seems unrelenting until Kelly (Dunst) enters the scene. |
