Any other bigger-than-life movie-house hero staring in a series of films that span almost 50 years would have to answer some serious questions about plot repetition--but not Godzilla. The familiarity is what you pay to see. If Godzilla didn't clumsily destroy Tokyo office buildings and knock commuter trains off their elevated tracks, you'd be asking for a refund, pronto. So, with the latest Japanese flick to make it to our shores--featuring the REAL Godzilla, not that sophisticated American excuse for a Godzilla from a couple of years back--all is well. Funny dubbing, rubber suits, miniature sets--perfect comfort food on a rainy afternoon. As far as the plot goes...in short, spacecraft attacks Tokyo--the radioactive dinosaur comes to the rescue.
